Why do you let these people crowd around you from morning till evening?\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><sup>15<\/sup>\u00a0Moses answered, \u201cBecause they come here to find out what God wants them to do. <sup>16<\/sup>\u00a0They bring their complaints to me, and I make decisions on the basis of God\u2019s laws.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:6px;\"><sup>17<\/sup>\u00a0Jethro replied:<\/p>\r\n<div style=\"margin: 0 30px 15px;\">\r\n  <p>That isn\u2019t the best way to do it.\u00a0<sup>18<\/sup>\u00a0You and the people who come to you will soon be worn out. The job is too much for one person; you can\u2019t do it alone.\u00a0<sup>19<\/sup>\u00a0God will help you if you follow my advice. You should be the one to speak to God for the people, <sup>20<\/sup>\u00a0and you should teach them God\u2019s laws and show them what they must do to live right.<\/p>\r\n  <p><sup>21<\/sup>\u00a0You will need to appoint some competent leaders who respect God and are trustworthy and honest. Then put them over groups of ten, fifty, a hundred, and a thousand.\u00a0<sup>22<\/sup>\u00a0These judges can handle the ordinary cases and bring the more difficult ones to you. Having them to share the load will make your work easier.\u00a0<sup>23<\/sup>\u00a0This is the way God wants it done. You won\u2019t be under nearly as much stress, and everyone else will return home feeling satisfied.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p><sup>24<\/sup>\u00a0Moses followed Jethro\u2019s advice.\u00a0<sup>25<\/sup>\u00a0He chose some competent leaders from every tribe in Israel and put them over groups of ten, fifty, a hundred, and a thousand. <sup>26<\/sup>\u00a0They served as judges, deciding the easy cases themselves, but bringing the more difficult ones to Moses.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"passage-read-more\">Read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus%2018:13-26&#038;version=CEV\" title=\"Read the passage on BibleGateway.com\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"hyperlink-underlined\">Exodus 18:13-26<\/a> in context and\/or in other translations on BibleGateway.com!<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"aj-post-question\"><span>Cam&#8217;s Insights:<\/span> Cam talks about how Moses was headed for burnout and Jethro steps in to give him advice about delegation.
