He said to them, \u2018Why are you standing here all day long without work?\u2019<\/p>\r\n<p><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u201c\u2018No one has hired us,\u2019 they answered him.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cHe said to them, \u2018Work in my vineyard.\u2019<\/p>\r\n<p><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhen evening came, the owner of the vineyard told the supervisor, \u2018Call the workers, and give them their wages. Start with the last, and end with the first.\u2019<\/p>\r\n<p><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cThose who started working about 5 p.m. came, and each received a day\u2019s wages.\u00a0<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>When those who had been hired first came, they expected to receive more. But each of them received a day\u2019s wages.\u00a0<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>Although they took it, they began to protest to the owner.\u00a0<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>They said, \u2018These last workers have worked only one hour. Yet, you\u2019ve treated us all the same, even though we worked hard all day under a blazing sun.\u2019<\/p>\r\n<p><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cThe owner said to one of them, \u2018Friend, I\u2019m not treating you unfairly. Didn\u2019t you agree with me on a day\u2019s wages?\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>Take your money and go! I want to give this last worker as much as I gave you.\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>Can\u2019t I do what I want with my own money?
